It is winter in the Southern Hemisphere

What can we expect in South America, Africa and Oceania?

Looks like winter is having an impact on the countries in the Southern Hemisphere as expected.

Oceania

Australia is experiencing a second wave and the daily / weekly cases high from the second wave should cross the daily / weekly cases high from the first wave in March / April. Papua New Guinea is too (although the numbers are much smaller)

Africa

Many African countries are setting new cases / deaths records on a daily basis since June.

South Africa has broken its cases record so many times in the last 6 weeks.

Argentina, Brazil, Columbia, Bolivia, Chile, Peru have all broken their cases record so many times in the last 6 weeks.

First Wave and the second wave

It will be interesting to see how much higher the daily / weekly cases peak in the second wave is when compared to that in the first wave. This makes more sense for Australia and New Zealand.

Africa and South America were not hit hard in March / April. So, they didn't really have a first wave and a second wave. This is still the continuation of the first wave that started in May and then it started to rise up in the winter months and it is still rising.

So when is winter in the Southern Hemisphere?

According to this it is in June, July, August

Does not bode well

The fact that a lot of the Southern Hemisphere countries are breaking records almost on a daily basis does not bode well for the Asian, European and North and Central American countries.

Vaccines?

These Southern Hemisphere countries will have to deal with this without the aid of vaccines. The hope is that the rest of the world would have one or more adequately tested and effective vaccines ready for mass production by late Fall.
