  • High risk factors: Daily new cases, ICU Capacity at 98% is at critical levels.
  • Infection rate is above 1 at 1.06. It means that the disease is still spreading and that can be seen by the rising case numbers every day (and the new records recently)
  • Masks need to be mandated and bars and restaurants and beaches must all be shutdown to get a handle on this thing and to get the Infection rate well below 1.

  • 21 counties have a weekly case growth of 100% or more compared to last week.
  • 24 counties have a weekly case growth of 100% or more compared to two weeks ago.

Cases and Deaths records at the state and county levels

  • Almost every other day quite a few counties in Georgia are breaking either its own cases record or its deaths record.
  • We now routinely have 4,000+ cases and 75+ deaths every day
  • We also have 8+ Georgia counties breaking its cases record every day (5+ counties its deaths records)

Comparing New Jersey and Georgia

New Jersey which is a slightly smaller state with an 8.9 million population reached a cases peak (4305) on April 3rd. During the rest of April, the cases hovered in the 3,000 to 4,200 range. But the deaths which is a lagging indicator continued to rise through out April finally peaking at 457 on April 30th.

So, Georgia has had daily cases go over the New Jersey peak cases of 4,305 several times already. It would be scary to see the deaths in Georgia apporaching the New Jersey peak (451). The longer we see the Infection rate above 1.0 and the cases above 4,000 on a daily basis, it is only a matter of time before we see 100+ deaths daily.

The stunning growth in cases in the last 4 weeks through out Georgia has left many parts of the state reeling. This is beginning to look a lot like Italy (Lombardi), Spain, Wuhan, New York City or even New Jersey in March / April. ICU is near capacity in most places. Horrific stories are coming out of many places in Georgia.

Final Thoughts

  • If Georgia re-opens schools with the Republican Governor Brian Kemp not having the guts to say no to Trump to schools re-opening, heaven help us all. 5,000+ cases daily and 150+ deaths daily will be a common occurrence in Georgia leading up to fall / winter and the flu season.
  • I don't want to speculate how catastrophic it would be if schools re-open and stay open and we don't have a vaccine until mid 2021.
  • I hope common sense prevails and they learn from the deadly mistake made by Israel

Let’s not try out this strategy. What if the virus has a 2% fatality rate? 4.26 million deaths is acceptable?

The actions by the Gov of Iowa, the Trump administration and especially the staff at the North Paulding High School where they know that many football players are infected and may have come into contact with other kids and still opening schools without a mask mandate and social distancing is diabolical.

They are all so eager to infect thousands (millions at the Trump adminstration level) and possibly dooming thousands to a lifetmime of misery with pre-existing lung, heart and other issues brought on by a COVID infection. This is just plain evil!

The parents need to put their foot down and refuse to send their kids to school.
